Adventureland Treehouse '23

Joint R.E.C. & S.E.A. Field Headquarters – JNC Western Terminus

This past November 10th, Royal Exploration Corps members Commander T. Youngington Regalia Esq., and Doctor John Nedson Shortbottom III attended the long-awaited opening of the Adventureland Treehouse which included a new R.E.C. and S.E.A., jointly shared field Headquarters. Here the two well established groups of explorers (whose ranks include many individuals with memberships in both organizations) will enjoy an outpost located in the Jungle regions and adjacent “Lands”.

The new field HQ is home to lofty offices that overlook not only the Jungle Navigation Company’s Western Docks, but also boast splendid views of The Tropical Hideaway, The Tiki Room and Dr Jone’s ongoing Temple excavation site.

Youngington and Shortbottom arrived via the Congo Queen, one of the JNC's fantail launch expedition boats, just as the sun was rising above the Jungle Lands.

Once on the docks, the two conferred with knowledgeable skippers about the Treehouse and shared other news of the region. They also met with Distinguished R.E.C. member, Skipper Kyle as he had just returned from a recent "Cruise".

The two also were elated to happen upon Skipper Steven, and because of his outstanding service in guiding R.E.C. members on countless Adventures and expeditions, the fearless Skipper was presented with Distinguished Membership into the Corps! Well done Steven, Sir! Our organization considers itself fortunate and honored to count you among our ranks!

With the business of induction and initiation now complete, Youngington and Shortbottom proceeded to the Treehouse, and with official blueprints in hand, went about examining the new Field HQ offices. Before long, they were joined by Distinguished R.E.C. Members Lady Evangelynn Longfellow Kipling and Sir Lawrence David Kipling.

As Doctor Shortbottom made note and close study of the Treehouse’s impressive Rum still, he began to make inquiries into the location of the “Rum Cellar” (which surely must be located somewhere on site). None of the Treehouse staff seemed to have knowledge of said cellar.  This invoked intrigue among the group of R.E.C. explorers. Surely, there must be a Rum store somewhere.

Fortuitously, the group came upon a sea Captain (of questionable repute) who seemed to have recently returned from the Caribbean and just happened to be in attendance. Surely this fellow would know a thing or two about Rum storage.

As Treehouse inspection continued, the group met the location’s Chief Arborist, Skipper Kristi. She was most helpful and assisted the Corps members by answering questions about the construction of the various rooms and offices of the tree. She was, however, unable to shed any light on the whereabouts of the, thus far, unknown Rum storage Cellar.

At this time, it is worth noting that upon return to R.E.C. home offices, the Doctor and Commander discussed offering Skipper Kristi Distinguished membership in the Corps. Both concurred that she would be an exemplary addition.  Therefore, they will have official regalia and documentation at the ready and look to present her with this great honor when they next journey to the JNC’s Western Terminus.

In conclusion, it was an extraordinary expedition and exciting visit.  Ultimately the newly constructed and renovated Adventureland Treehouse passed inspection and proved to be ship shape and in Bristol fashion! This new outpost will certainly serve the R.E.C., and other adventurers, very well indeed, and it will surely provide a fine base of operation as they conduct future exploration into the local Jungle and all of the adjoining regions!
